Dorian Helps Spike September Rates

As Dorian inched closer to the Southeastern United States in the beginning of September, FEMA began staging supplies in an effort to prepare for the worst.  With last-minute planning, carriers demanded higher rates to help position freight and their fleets throughout the county.  It was overall, a large factor in the spike we saw within the spot market for both van and reefer loads.  Both equipment types took a jump of $0.04 cents, and rates stayed elevated for weeks after the hurricane passed.

Winter is Coming

It’s not even Fall yet, but California had its first snowfall this week.  The DOT showed photographs of snow accumulating near I-80, on Highway 267, near Truckee, CA.  This is an early reminder that trucks are already encountering unpleasant weather in parts of the country.  Plan ahead and re-route freight if needed!
